Lesley Jordan

My name is Lesley Jordan. I've had Type 1 diabetes since 1968, when I was aged 2. I've had quite a lot of laser treatment to my eyes, along with one cataract removal. I have other auto-immune conditions; hypothyroidism, pernicious anaemia and primary ovarian failure.

Before pumping I was very discouraged in my diabetes care - nothing seemed to make it as controllable as the clinic/Balance magazine suggested it should be. I would sometimes go for several days without doing a single blood test.

Pumping has made things completely different, and I now have no trouble testing 4+ times per day. If the result isn't what I expected, its so easy to correct. My quality of life has greatly improved, and my HbA1c is described as "exemplary" by the clinic!

I'm now doing what I can, within INPUT, to raise awareness of pumping in Essex.
